Gaza : A Hamas leader told a Kuwaiti daily on Friday that the Islamic movement has “prepared itself very well for any Israeli army large incursion into the Gaza Strip”.
Nizar Rayan, a top Hamas leader who leads several armed cells prepared to confront any Israeli incursion into Gaza, made the remarks in an interview with the Kuwaiti Al-Jareeda Daily.
In case Israel invades the Gaza Strip, “it would have to confront 50,000 real and faithful fighters,” Rayan said, adding there are 400 male and 200 female suicide bombers who are ready to confront any Israeli army large-scale operation against the strip.
“Hamas is not going to be alone in fighting the occupation, it would earn the Palestinian popular support,” Rayan stressed.
He added that “we don’t have an arsenal, as the world calls it; our arms are simple and primitive as some politicians call it (fireworks).”
In mid June, Hamas defeated Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah forces following an infighting that lasted for several months, ended up with a full control of the Gaza Strip.
