Washington : US intelligence bought Google data base to enhance espionage on the Internet through restricted Intellipedia network for the 16 intelligence agencies.
San Francisco Chronicle says several branches within the community, among them the National Security Agency, the CIA and FBI, are now able to process information collected from Google.
The contracts are part of the accords the company sales team promoted with the Feds that already signed similar pact with the Coast Guard, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration.
Intellipedia stores information on people, territories, meeting minutes and other material of their exclusive interest.
The agreement occurs amid President Bush’ pressures to grant immunity to the phone companies involved in the wiretapping program and control of private e-mails.
Bush called the US Congress to pass a law allowing to spy on the citizens without a warrant.
Last February the Senate Okayed a motion granting immunity, even with retroactive protection, blocking some 40 suits opened by individuals and non governmental organizations.
The House also approved six months ago that did not include phone company immunity.
