Ahmedabad : A 13-year-old girl from the Delhi Public School (DPS) here was killed and 35 injured Wednesday morning when their bus overturned while trying to overtake a truck. Four of the children are seriously injured.
The accident took place near Shilaj village, 10 km from here, when the speeding school bus was carrying 45 children from Bopal, on the outskirts of the city, to the school, the police said.
The girl died on the spot and it is feared the toll could rise.
“One body of a 13-year-old girl was brought here around 8.30 a.m. today. It has been sent for a post mortem examination,” said Resident Medical Officer Dinesh Patel of the Sola Civil hospital here.
He said 16 of those injured had come to his hospital while 15 had been sent to the Sal-Kesar hospital.
