Kabul : Three suspected Taliban militants were killed while a fourth was captured alive following a clash with police in southern Afghanistan, officials said on Tuesday. The fighting took place in the volatile province of Helmand, provincial police chief Brigadier General Muhammad Hussain Andiwal told journalists.
The militants were wearing police uniform, said the police chief. They ambushed a police van.
The exchange of fire resulted in the killing of three of the attackers while a fourth was captured alive, he added. He said the arrested man, who was injured in the clash, had been identified as Mullah Naqeeb, who is considered a key commander in the southern zone.
Taliban so far did not issue comment on the government claim.
