Baghdad : Three people were killed and at least six others were injured, including an Iraqi TV cameraman, by two roadside bomb explosions in Baghdad on Wednesday, an Interior Ministry source said.

“A roadside bomb went off in the Baghdad’s eastern neighborhood of al-Talbiya, killing three civilians and injuring three others, including the cameraman of the Iraqi independent al-Diyar satellite television” Maytham Ibrahim, who was seriously wounded in his legs, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Ibrahim was heading to cover the security situation in Baghdad’s predominantly Shiite neighborhoods, where Mahdi Army militia fought U.S.-backed Iraqi security forces in the east of the capital, added the source.

Another roadside bomb detonated near a police patrol in the al-Qahera neighborhood in northern Baghdad, damaging a police vehicle and wounding three policemen aboard, according to the source.

The Iraqi Juarnalists’ Union said earlier that more than 250 Iraqi journalists have killed in the country since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.

The Paris-based media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) said that the war in Iraq has proved to be the deadliest for journalists since World War II.

“No country has ever seen more journalists killed than Iraq,” the international watchdog said.
