By Bernama

Tokyo : Issues related to ensuring security in the Asia-Pacific region will be discussed at a regular round of the Russian-Japanese dialogue, which will be held in Tokyo on April 7.

The Japanese Foreign Ministry said that Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Denisov will arrive to take part in the meeting, Itar-Tass news agency reported Wednesday.

He will hold consultations with his Japanese colleague Mitoji Yabunaka.

In the course of the dialogue, Tokyo officials said, the parties may also consider issues of bilateral strategic relations. It is also not ruled out that the sides will raise ecology problems that will be one of the main issues at the Group of Eight summit to be held on the Japanese northernmost Hokkaido Island.

The countries are engaged in the strategic dialogue at the level of the first deputy foreign ministers since January 2007 according to a decision of the two countries’ leaders.

The sides have already held three such meetings that are held in Moscow and Tokyo alternately.
