Bus explosion kills three, wounds 15 in Baghdad

Baghdad : At least three civilians were killed and 15 wounded when a bomb targeted a bus in the Iraqi capital, media reports said Saturday.

Security sources told the Voices of Iraq (VOI) news agency that a bomb was detonated near Baghdad’s Beirut area, targeting a bus with a capacity of 21 passengers.

Separately, Iraq’s Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki allowed ambulances and vehicles to move in the Shia cities of Shula and Sadr Friday, General Qassim Atta, spokesman for Baghdad operations, told VOI.

Al-Maliki had imposed a curfew in the two cities since the early hours of Monday.

Atta said doctors were also allowed to freely move in the cities, after showing their medical identification cards.

He added that other governmental services were now permitted to enter the cities, including electricity maintenance and garbage collection.

The move was aimed at preventing illegal militants and criminal gangs from committing acts of violence in the cities, Atta said.
