Canadian Islamic associations voice concern at security accord with Israel

By Tahani Al-Ghazali, KUNA,

Ottawa : The Canadian Islamic Congress, Arab and Islamic organizations in Canada, have expressed deep concern toward a recently-signed security agreement between Canada and Israel.

The local organizations, including members from the Canadian Islamic and Arab communities, considered the Canada-Israel accord as a racist agreement intended to “breach privacy of Arabs and Muslims.” Dr. Deliccic Zijad, the Executive Director of the Canadian Islamic Congress, said to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the Arab institutions and Islamic organizations are very concerned at the security agreement, signed between Canada and Israel on March 28 this year.

The cooperation accord grants Israel access to personal and private information about immigrants, visitors and residents in Canada.

He added that this agreement is considered as a violation of the freedom of citizens, and will lead to racial profiling of Canadian citizens and visitors.
