Cuba Protests US Emissary Visit to Sweden

By Prensa Latina,

Stockholm : Cuban Ambassador to Stockholm Ernesto Melendez protested before the Swedish government Monday because of the welcome it will offer US official in charge of Cuban affairs in the Department of State, Caleb McCarry.

Melendez said McCarry´s activities violate the most elemental regulations of international rights and the respect for the sovereignty, independence and non-interference in the domestic affairs of the peoples or countries.

McCarry will be received here by members of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, and he is in charge of the implementation of the plan by US President George W. Bush against Cuba.

Melendez said Washington’s emissary has the responsibility to lead Bush’s aggressive plans and remembered the Cuban government has denounced these aggressions with evidence, quite known by the Swedish authorities and the international community.

Melendez said that McCarry´s visit takes place when there is a favourable approach between the European Union and Cuba.

Both parties will revise the unfair and discriminatory measures imposed to Cuba by EU in 2003 in the month of June, said Melendez

“The visit of the US emissary to Europe has the clear purpose to seek for support of EU member countries to join the US in its intentions to isolate and destroy the Cuban Revolution,” Melendez concluded.
