Maoist Party Easy Nepal Winner

By Prensa Latina,

Katmandu : After a vote count in 163 electoral districts the Nepal Maoist Communist Party (CPN-M) won 89 of them and is headed toward an overwhelming victory in the constituent assembly elections, which are considered fair by international observers.

The other two relevant groups, the Nepali Congress Party (NC) and the Marxist Leninist Unified Communist Party (CPN-UML) are going very far in second and third place with 28 and 23 seats, respectively.

The results in other 77 localities are still unknown in which the CPN-M majority are in the leading position to complete the 240 seats eligible by direct vote to the Constituent Assembly of 601 members.

That entity will make the new constitution that will turn this feudal kingdom into a democratic federal republic that will give way to the creation of a new government.

The next 23 seats already elected will be shared among five minority organizations, 14 of them in favor of the Forum of the Medhesi People’s Rights.

Once the first step finishes 335 seats will be shared for proportional representation of parties and Prime Minister will appoint the rest 26 posts at the end of the process.

After resignation of CPN-M leader of the group Madhav Kumar, Amrit Kumar Bohara was chosen acting secretary general.
