Communist party faction to merge with CPI-M

Kozhikode (Kerala) : A faction of the extreme Left outfit – the Communist Party of India (Marxist Leninist) Red Flag (CPI-ML Red Flag) – has decided to join the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), which is heading the ruling Left Democratic Front in the state.

Led by K.T. Kunhikkannan, the Red Flag members took this decision at a meeting held here Friday.

Kunhikkannan, former state committee member of CPI-ML Red Flag, and two other leaders were expelled from the party April 3 for anti-party activities. They were accused of trying to take the party close to CPI-M.

Addressing a convention of his followers here Friday, Kunhikkannan said in the present circumstance it was important for them to join the CPI-M, which is leading the Left politics and the working class in the country.
