Kolkata : Two people, including a lawyer, were arrested in West Bengal Saturday for allegedly leaking and selling this year’s state joint entrance question papers. The examinations, to start Sunday, have been postponed indefinitely.

The incident took place in West Midnapur district.

West Midnapur Police Superintendent R. Rajshekharan told IANS: “Mihir Dandapar was selling entire the set of medical entrance examination question papers for Rs.200,000 in Ghatal area of the district. When he was quizzed, he said those were last year’s papers. But later we realised that they were this year’s.”

He said Mihir, 49, disclosed the name of his partner in the crime -lawyer Arun Chowdhury, 35, – who was also arrested. “We recovered about 100 sets of question papers from Arun’s residence.”

Rajshekharan added that till now the duo had sold the papers to only two students.

“We are trying to find who the two students are and also how the papers were leaked from the printing press at Kolkata. The two will be produced at the court Sunday. The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will also handle the case,” he said.

“The exams have been postponed for indefinite period,” he added.
