Kuwait : Fire Departments of various areas throughout Kuwait were instructed, Sunday, to carry out inspections of campaigns’ headquarters to guarantee implementation of safety measures, a fire department official said.
Deputy General Manager of the General Fire Directorate for development of human resources, Brigadier Yousif Al-Ansari, told KUNA the department is ready to help or train elections committees on fire control and first aid.
He also stressed the need to set up headquarters in open spaces far from the main roads and highways, so that fire trucks’ path would not be obstructed, impeding their response to emergencies.
He added the headquarters should not be surrounded by a fence, to facilitate evacuation, and that tents should be opened and provided with wide allies for people to pass without crowding.
He also warned of electric problems, urging that specialized electricians guarantee best and safest power connection.
Al-Ansari also warned from the use of coal and fireworks in or near tents, in addition to disposing garbage near tents, to avoid fire hazard.
The official was also calling upon candidates to provide security for their campaign headquarters and provide fire extinguishers.
Al-Ansari hoped that Kuwait would experience a safe and successful democratic process, and that Allah the Almighty protect Kuwait and its people under the leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
