Myanmar hunts for bombers for two blasts in Yangon

By Xinhua,

Yangon : The Myanmar authorities are hunting for suspected bombers in two bomb blasts which occurred in the downtown areas of the country’s biggest city of Yangon on Sunday night, according to state media Tuesday.

A man, supposed to be at the age of 30, is under suspicion for the responsibility of one of the two blasts in the city’s Kyauktada and Pabedan townships.

“The perpetrations were committed by a man dubbed Mone Dine (Storm) who was sent into the nation after attending explosive courses conducted by Vigorous Burma Student Warriors (VBSW) in the other country,” said the New Light of Myanmar daily, partly citing a security camera record which demonstrates that a man carrying explosives approaching a vehicle parked behind the Traders Hotel to blow off the vehicle.

According to the newspaper, the two bomb explosions in over an hour’s interval took place in two separation locations in Yangon on Sunday night, one on 36th Street in front of a Subaru taxi parked beside the ABC Restaurant near the City Hall and the other on 32nd Street beneath a Toyota Corona GX salon car parked behind the famous Traders Hotel.

The two blasts slightly damaged the two vehicles but injured nobody, the report said.

The authorities are asking people to come forward with more relevant information in connection with the blasts.
