Chennai : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi Tuesday appended his name to a “wish-petition” signed by thousands of fans, urging hosts Chennai Super Kings to win both their T20 Indian Premier League outings to be played here Wednesday and Saturday.
The petition was ceremoniously handed over to CSK skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni by officials from India Cements, the company that owns the team.
A sell-out crowd of over 50,000 is expected to witness both the Chennai Super Kings matches – versus Mumbai Indians on Wednesday and Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday.
Organisers said at least 400 foreigners, a majority of them Australians, are expected to watch the match.
“We have orders to prevent alcoholic beverages and tobacco products being taken into the stadium regardless of nationality,” a police official added.
