New Delhi : The Delhi government Saturday decided to go ahead with the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) system with dedicated corridors, it was announced here Saturday.
Following a crucial meeting on the disputed scheme, the government decided the scheme would continue as it could potentially carry 60 percent of the commuters on a given route.
There has been strong opposition to the BRT system because it takes away much of the road space for bus corridors and has led to huge traffic pile-ups on the first road in south Delhi where it is being tried out.
