New Delhi : The Supreme Court Monday dismissed the bail plea of two senior police officers, who have been jailed for the November 2005 killings of Ujjain youth Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausar Bi and their friend Tulsiram Prajapati in Ahmedabad.
A bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice P. Sathashivam turned down the plea saying “there were no circumstances” to interfere with the Gujarat High Court’s judgement that denied them bail.
M.N. Dinesh, Indian Police Service (IPC) officer of Rajasthan cadre, and Gujarat Police Deputy Superintendent N.K. Amin had challenged the high court order cancelling their bail granted by a trial court.
They approached the apex court saying the high court had considered irrelevant material but the Supreme Court ruled it had considered relevant material while cancelling their bail.
Dinesh had allegedly assisted the Gujarat police in the fake shooutout on the outskirts of Ahemdabad in which Sohrabuddin was killed. Amin has been accused of disposing off Kauser Bi’s body.
