Paris : During the beginning of an International Conference here the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) demanded that Israel open Gaza Strip and stop violating human rights of Palestinian civilians.
On behalf of NAM Coordination Bureau Cuban Permanent ambassador at UN Rodrigo Malmierca said the Israel military escalade in the occupied territories is a serious violation of international laws.
Malmierca added it is an infringement of human rights that worsen the cycle of violence besides damaging peace and security process in the world, contrary to a negotiated solution between the two states.
He also criticized the UN Security Council procedure that was not able to achieve, on more than 30 occasions, a resolution on the panorama of instability prevailing in Palestine.
He said that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza Strip, as consequence of an illegal Tel Aviv policy against the civil population, has not being taken into account by the Security Council.
Malmierca emphasized that the situation in the Palestinian occupied territories, including eastern Jerusalem, and the issue of refugees will be priority issues of the Non-Aligned agenda.
“We deeply regretted the Palestinian people are still suffering a long and brutal military occupation of Israel for over 40 years,” he said.
The World Conference on Palestinian Refugees is being held at UNESCO’s headquarters in this capital and will run until Wednesday with large participation of delegations members of UN, observers and guests.
