New Delhi : Forty people were killed in a road accident Saturday night in Indian northeast state Bihar, according to the Press Trust of India on Sunday.
The tragedy occurred when a truck with 50 farm laborers were traveling fell off the road. The farmers were returning to their homes after sowing paddy at nearby village.
The driver lost control of the vehicle which was also loaded with food grain sacks and then the truck turned over and plummeted into a river, local police said.
Thirty-five people died on the spot and some others are in serious condition in a nearby hospital, said the police.
