Tel Aviv : Israeli intelligence agents condition medical treatment for some Palestinians in this country on serving as informers in the occupied territories, a human right organization reported on Monday.
At least 30 people from the Gaza Strip were denied health services for not giving information to the Israeli Security Agency, commonly known as the Shin Bet, according to the report by Physicians for Human Rights in Tel Aviv.
Monday’s report said Palestinian patients have “become an accessible and important target for the General Security Services (GSS) in Israel for the purpose of recruiting and gathering information.”
In this respect, the source said some patients were called for interrogation and others did not cross the Israeli division line from Gaza, due to fear of being arrested.
The Shin Bet is the arbitrator of life and death for Palestinians with serious health problems that live in the Gaza Strip, the humanitarian organization said in its 83-page report. The denunciation adds to the accusations by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza and the government of the Palestinian National Authority in the Western Bank, in relation to the Israeli denial of medical treatment to people that need it.
