Thrissur (Kerala) : Two of the five remand prisoners, who escaped from a lock-up of a police station in Kozhikode Wednesday, were arrested at Cheruthuruthi in Thrissur district in Kerala Thursday.
Police said one of those arrested, Manikantan, was an accused in a murder case, while the other, Mohanan, is accused of burglaries.
“They were held during a vehicle check,” a police official said.
The five prisoners had been taken into custody for interrogation by police four days ago with permission from a court. They escaped from the lock-up after giving the slip to the woman constable on guard duty.
Kozhikode police commissioner Anup Kuruvilla John Wednesday suspended four officials in this connection. The police are still on the look out for the remaining fugitives.
