Israeli Army arrests Syrian, 10 Palestinians in W. Bank

By KUNA,

Gaza : Israeli forces arrested a Syrian national after he was shot last night, and an Israeli Army spokesman said Thursday that the man was armed and was shot as he infiltrated into Israeli territory.

According to the spokesman, quoted by Radio Israel, the Syrian was arrested after he was injured and was taken to the concerned security bodies for interrogation.

The radio also quoted Israeli security sources saying “the man could be a member of a drug trafficking outfit.” The sources would not reveal the Syrian’s identity.

The radio also reported arrests of 10 Palestinians in different West Bank cities and regions Wednesday night. A spokesman for the Israeli Army today said the arrestees were wanted by Israeli security bodies on charges of committing acts compromising Israeli interests.

The spokesman said, “All ten arrestees were handed over to the Israel Security Agency – Shin Bet – on suspicion of being involved in hostile acts.” The army was already reported to have arrested seven Palestinians in Dheisha refugee camp early Thursday morning, where two of the arrestees were injured in confrontations that broke out before they could be arrested.
