Jammu (J&k): When the entire Jammu and Kashmir is burning in communal fire over Amarnath Shrine land row, a Muslim family in Jammu has come forward to adopt two abandoned children of a Hindu family.

The two siblings, a girl and a boy aged over two and one years respectively, were spotted outside a sweet shop in Gangyal area. As soon as the news spread a Muslim couple living nearby approached the police station and expressed their desire to adopt them, says a report in The Tribune.

“The two children were found abandoned outside a sweet shop in Kunjwani Chowk and till further investigations they have been handed over to a Muslim family, which has come forward with a desire to adopt them” a police officer of the Gangyal police station has been quoted saying.

Ahmed Din Bhat (48), who has expressed his willingness to adopt the children, is a labourer in a saw mill in Bari-Brahmana. When he talked to his wife Salima Begum, she immediately rushed to the police station expressing her desire to adopt them.

The couple has two sons and a daughter: two of them married. They have been living in a rented accommodation in Uttam Nagar in Gangyal for the last over two decades.
