Ranchi : Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren, an aspirant to the chief minister’s post, appeared in a Giridih court Tuesday in connection with a 1975 murder case.
The case is related to the murder of two people in Kudko village of Giridih district in 1975 following a dispute over the killing of a goat.
Soren went to Giridih from Ranchi to appear in the court. A witness’s statement was recorded in the presence of the JMM chief.
The Kudko murder case warrant was issued in 2004 July when the warrant pending against Soren in the Chirudih massacre was also issued. Soren had to quit the central ministry after the warrant. He has been acquitted by a Jamatara court in the Chirudih massacre case.
Soren, aspiring to become chief minister of Jharkhand, withdrew his party’s support to the 23-month-old Madhu Koda government Sunday evening, reducing it to a minority. In the 82-member house, Koda now enjoys the support of only 25 legislators.
Jharkhand governor Syed Sibte Razi has asked Koda to prove his majority on or before Aug 25. Koda said that he would prove majority on the floor of the house.
