Lucknow : Three people died and three others were critically injured when a man shot at his family members and then turned the gun on himself, the police said.
The incident took place at Raja Bazar in the Old Lucknow area at about 8.30 p.m.
“A jeweller, Chandraprakash, who was mentally disturbed for the last few days, fired at his mother, his two daughters, his wife and his aunt. Later, he shot himself too,” deputy Superintendent of police Vinay Chandra told IANS.
While the mother and two daughters died on the spot, Chandraprakash, his wife and his aunt were rushed to the hospital, where their condition is stated to be critical, Chandra added.
Although the exact cause behind the shooting is yet to be ascertained, the police said that Chadraprakash took the extreme step as he was mentally disturbed over the repayment of a loan he had taken, probably for his business.
