Lucknow : A man wanted by the Haryana government in connection with a criminal case was gunned down Thursday by the police in Uttar Pradesh.
“Shah Alam, who was carrying a reward of Rs.50,000, was shot in a gun battle in the Gandhi Nagar in Ghazipur district, some 275 km from Lucknow,” police officer Abhai Singh told IANS.
The gun battle continued for about one hour. One of Alam’s aides managed to escape, he added.
The Uttar Pradesh police has contacted Haryana police for Shah Alam’s crime records.
