Bhopal : The countdown for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Madhya Pradesh has begun, Congress party spokesman Veerappa Moily said here Saturday.
Moily told newspersons that Madhya Pradesh has become a unique example of state sponsored corruption during the BJP rule of four-and-a-half years.
“It is the only state where the chief minister, his wife and at least 17 cabinet colleagues were facing corruption charges and cases against them have been filed with the Lokayukta (ombudsman),” he said.
He said it is something unheard of in the history of independent India that any chief minister goes to meet a murder accused.
“But Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan did it. He went to meet the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) leader accused of killing Professor H.S. Sabharwal during the student union elections in a college in Ujjain,” he said.
The law and order situation in the state has worsened and the people of the state were feeling insecure under the BJP regime, said Moily, adding that there was total anarchy in the state ever since the BJP came to power.
Denying reports about factionalism in the state Congress, Moily said that the party was united and would uproot the BJP government in the upcoming state polls.
