Paris : French President Nicolas Sarkozy has called for an emergency summit of the European Union (EU) for Sept 1 in Brussels over the ongoing crisis in Georgia, the presidential palace announced Sunday.
Sarkozy – as current president of the EU – was acting on the wishes of several member states, according to the statement.
