‘No challenge to India’s sovereignty acceptable’

By IANS,

New Delhi : As an indefinite curfew continued for a third day in the Kashmir Valley, the government Tuesday underlined that dialogue was the only way to resolve the crisis stressing that any challenge to India’s sovereignty was not acceptable.

A solution to the crisis can only come through talks, said Minister of State for Home Sri Prakash Jaiswal.

Jaiswal told reporters that India would not accept any challenge to its sovereignty.

Jaiswal’s comments came as the Kashmir valley seething with nearly three months’ stir over Amarnath land remained calm a day after seven people were killed and at least 70 injured in police and paramilitary firing there.

Curfew was imposed in the valley Sunday morning to foil a planned sit-in by separatists in Lal Chowk, the city centre of Srinagar.
