Srinagar : Three persons including one JCO were killed and two others injured as militants attack in Jammu on Wednesday when they fired indiscriminately from an AK-47 rifle.
Reports said three terrorists, wearing police uniforms, came on a auto and began firing indiscriminately at an Army chekpost around 6:00 am in the city’s Mishriwala area.
They then proceeded to Chinnor. The firing is reported to be still on in the Chinnor and the entire area has been cordoned off by the Army. Additional security forces have been rushed to the site to flush out the militants, who are hiding in a house.
Sources said that eight empty magazines of AK-47 were found from the site, thus showing the intensity of the firing. This is also an indicator that terrorists seem to be fully equipped and prepared.
It may be noted that the entire city was put on high alert on Tuesday after a group of militants sneaked into India through the Kanachak area.
Officials are of the view that the three terrorists might be the same, who intruded into India on Monday.
