Ahmedabad : Come October, children in this largest city of Gujarat will be able to have a joy-ride on a shiny new toy train from Britain that will chug along tracks especially made in China.
The diesel-run train will run around the Kankaria lake here and will be eco-friendly, Municipal Commissioner I.P. Gautam told reporters here Monday evening.
The train, to be christened the Kankaria Queen, will have four coaches besides the engine, with a capacity of 150 passengers, including 36 adults.
Gautam said the 4.5 km long rail tracks that were manufactured in China have arrived here, while the engine and coaches will be shipped from Britain in October.
The cost of the entire toy train setup was $310,000. The average speed of the train would be 10 km per hour.
