New York : India’s Mahesh Bhupathi’s run in the US Open mixed doubles came to an end when he and Australian Samantha Stosur went down to Swede Robert Lindstedt and Australian Rennae Stubbs in the opening round here.
Bhupathi-Stosur blew an early lead and could convert only two of the four break points they faced in their 6-2, 3-6, 10-12 defeat to Stubbs-Lindstedt Saturday.
Bhupathi, however, is still in contention in the doubles event where he and Bahamian Mark Knowles advanced to the quarter-finals Friday.
