Seven killed in train accident

Ghaziabad : Seven passengers were killed Sunday morning when an express train, on the footboard of whose coach they were travelling, hit a tractor-trolley near a railway crossing here.

The accident, according to railway sources, occurred when New Delhi-bound Lichhvi Express from Muzaffarpur reached Sikanderpur railway crossing near Dadri at 9 a.m.

The sources said five tractor-trolleys were passing through the railway crossing when the express train reached there.

Eight passengers who, sources said, were standing on footboard of a coach of the train, were knocked down by one of the tractor-trolleys when it hit the train, injuring them seriously. The injured passengers were rushed to a Bulandshahr hospital.

Of the eight, seven were pronounced dead at the hospital, the railway sources said.
