Islamabad : Militants in northern Pakistan attacked trucks carrying supplies for western forces in Afghanistan that killed at least one driver and wounded two others, said police on Monday.
Suspected militants attacked the trucks late Sunday night with rockets near Faisal terminal in Peshawar city, capital of North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), and also fired upon them, police sources told KUNA.
They said the attack put the trucks on fire, which killed one driver and wounded two others.
The incident came almost a month after militants hijacked 13 trucks carrying supplies for Western forces in Afghanistan as they passed through the Khyber Pass.
Most supplies, including fuel, are trucked through Pakistan to US-led coalition troops fighting militants in Afghanistan. Taliban frequently carry out attacks on the trucks but security along the route has deteriorated this year owing to increased US missile attacks in the bordering tribal region.
