Brussels : The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE), an umbrella body for hundreds of Islamic organisations in Europe, has expressed condemnation and shock at the terror attacks in Mumbai.
“These inexcusable and reprehensible attacks have shocked all concerned, especially given the scale and nature of the threat to innocent civilian lives, and the huge number of victims,” said the Brussels-based FIOE in a statement.
“In view of this grave trial, the Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe reminds of the vital importance of exercising self-restraint, and respect for the principle of peaceful coexistence and harmony in community relations in the multi-ethnic Indian society, and the necessity of maintaining the integrity of its social fabric, to wisely and safely navigate through such testing times,” it said.
FIOE also expressed its hope that the Indian sub-continent be spared an escalation in tensions and crises that emphatically do not serve the best interests of the peoples of the region.
