New Delhi : Russia and India signed 10 agreements and a civil nuclear cooperation deal, considered a milestone in their relations by both sides.
The signing ceremony marked the end of the Indian-Russian Annual Summit that was held here between Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, which was useful to consolidate links and strategic association between Moscow and New Delhi, said the Indian leader.
The nuclear collaboration pact involves, among other projects, building four new additional reactors by Russia in Kudankulam plant in the southern Tamil Nadu state.
Our relations have gone beyond the proof of time, said Singh in declarations before the signing of cooperation protocols in airlines, tourism, space search, trade, economy, culture science and technology and exchange of information.
They also sign a contract to acquire 80 MI-17V-5 helicopters for logistic operation for New Delhi that will join those MI-17s models they already have.
The agreements signed Friday marked a new landmark in the history in the cooperation with Russia, a country that has always backed India in many projects and spheres, affirmed the prime minister.
Medvedev and Singh signed a Joint Declaration reaffirming their commitment to achieving a comprehensive, fair and long-lasting solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict, through a negotiated solution that will bring about creation of a sovereign Palestinian State.
They also urged to solve the Iranian nuclear problem by means of talks, and ratified Teheran”s right to use nuclear energy with peaceful aims in compliance with international rules.
