Discontentment among BJP leaders following Delhi defeat

By IANS,

New Delhi : With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) all set to warm the opposition benches in Delhi assembly again, the discontentment among its leaders over its chief ministerial candidate V.K. Malhotra is out in the open.

“Personally, I think Arun Jaitley would have been a better choice as the party’s chief ministerial candidate. The result in Delhi has been disappointing,” said BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad.

“It was a golden opportunity (and) we lost it. The image and personality of Sheila Dikshit worked,” said BJP general secretary Vijay Goel.

“Every leader has his own vision. Elections are won on the basis of vision and will power,” said Goel without directly naming V.K. Malhotra.

“We had issues like price rise, terrorism, unauthorised colonies and electricity but the party was not able to approach the voters on those,” Goel added.

Malhotra is five-time parliamentarian and deputy leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha.
