Kolkata : Indian tennis ace Leander Paes Tuesday termed the Mumbai terror strikes as a “terrible act”, but took heart from the fact that the attack had brought the whole country together.
“The Mumbai strikes were such a terrible act, but it has reunited the country and brought Hindustan (India) together,” Paes told reporters after joining a practice session with Mohun Bagan players.
Paes said he was confident that the young Somdev Devvarman would be able to break into the top 100 next year.
“Somdev works the hardest among Indian players. He has a good chance of breaking into the top 100 next year.”
On practising with the Bagan boys, he said: “Cross-sport training is good for any sportsperson. I joined the session after talking to Baichung (Bhutia) who took (Bagan coach) Karim Bencherifa’s permission.”
