Bhopal : At least four labourers were killed and five others injured when the wall of a well they were digging caved in, police said Wednesday.
The incident occurred Tuesday at village Kalara, about 45 km from here, when the wall caved in and 10 labourers reportedly got trapped.
“The process of retrieval of bodies continued overnight as huge quantity of mud made rescue operations very difficult,” said Bhopal Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Rajnish Shrivastava.
He said army personnel were called as the JCB machine and the fire brigade staff of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation found it difficult to rescue people buried in the slush.
At least one more person is still feared trapped under the debris and the rescue operation is on, said Bhopal Police Superintendant Jaideep Prasad.
