Pakistan has a lot to answer for: Brown

New Delhi : Underlining support of the international community for India in the wake of the Mumbai terror attacks, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown Sunday said Pakistan has “a lot to answer for” and he will convey India’s concerns when he meets Pakistani leaders in Islamabad later in the day.

“We know that some arrests have been made and some people have been held even as we speak,” Brown told reporters when asked whether Pakistan was doing enough to crack down on anti-terror outfits working against India.

“We know the group responsible is LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba), and they (Pakistan) have a great deal to answer for,” Brown said after holding talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here.

“I hope to convey India’s concerns when I meet President (Asaf Ali) Zardari,” Brown said as he wrapped up his India visit. He held a breakfast meeting with Manmohan Singh Sunday.

He has left for Islamabad.

The 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks left more than 170 people dead, including 26 foreigners. India has blamed elements in Pakistan for the attacks.
