Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister seeks NSG centre in Bhopal

Bhopal : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written to Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram, asking him to consider Bhopal as one of the sites for the proposed zonal centres of the National Security Guard (NSG), officials said Sunday.

Noting the central government was contemplating establishing new NSG centres, Chouhan, in his letter to Chidambram, said: “I request that keeping in view its central location, one of the centres should be set up at Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh, which by virtue of its geographical placement, can provide the east-west and north-south corridor for the movement of various groups, thereby making it strategically sensitive.

“The arrest of some of the protagonists of banned extremist organisations in the state recently is a pointer in this direction,” he said.

Chouhan offered full support of the state government in setting up a NSG centre at Bhopal, promising the required land free of cost and all other assistance needed.
