Mohali (Punjab) : A youth was killed Sunday as two groups clashed over a piece of land in a village in Punjab, while two policemen at the spot did not intervene, according to an eyewitness.

According to police, two groups clashed in Sekhon Majra village in Mohali district, around 20 km from Chandigarh, as one group opposed the other’s attempt to erect a fence around some land.

“There were some anti-social elements in the first group who opened fire and a bullet hit Harvinder Singh on his head. He died as he was being taken to hospital,” Swarndeep Singh, deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohali (City) told IANS.

However, Raju, who was also present at the spot, told IANS that there were two policemen present at the site but they did not take any action to prevent the situation getting out of hand.

Police later arrested four youth for the crime and recovered a pistol from them.
