Chouhan allocates departments to new ministers

Bhopal : The 14 cabinet ministers and eight ministers of state, including four with independent charges, who took oath as members of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chohan’s cabinet were Sunday allocated portfolios, officials said.

While Chouhan kept with himself general administration, Narmada Valley development, aviation and other departments not assigned to any minister, senior-most minister and former chief minister Babulal Gaur has been allocated urban administration and development and Bhopal Gas Tragedy relief and rehabilitation departments.

Raghavji will look after finance, planning, economics and statistics, 20-Points Implementation and commercial tax, Jayant Malaiya will be in charge of water resources and housing and environment.

Kailash Vijayvargiya will take care of commerce, industries, employment, information technology, science and technology, public undertakings, horticulture and food processing, rural industries and parliamentary affairs, Nagendra Singh Nagod will look after public works department, and Gopal Bhargava panchayat and rural development. Jagdish Devda was given the charge of home, transport and jail.

The other cabinet ministers include Anoop Mishra (public health and family welfare, energy and medical education), Laxmikant Sharma (culture, public relations, religious trusts and endowments, and public grievances redressal), Archna Chitnis (higher education, school education and technical education and training), Jagannath Singh (tribal and scheduled Castes welfare), Ramkrishna Kusmaria (farmers welfare, agriculture development, animal husbandry, fisheries, backward class and minorities welfare), Gaurishankar Bisen (public health engineering and cooperative) and Tukojirao Pawar (tourism, sports and youth welfare).

Among ministers of state with independent charge, Karan Singh Verma has been given the task of managing labour, revenue and rehabilitation; Paras Jain food, civil supply and consumer Affairs; Ranjana Baghel woman, child development and social justice; and Rajendra Shukla forest, bio-diversity and biotechnology, mineral resources, law and legislative Affairs.

Ministers of state are Narayan Singh Kushwah (home, transport and jail), Kanhaiyalal Agarwal (general administration, Narmada Valley develoment and aviation), Harishankar Khatik (tribal and Scheduled Castes welfare); and Devsingh Saiyyam (panchayat and rural development).
