Toronto : Having failed to nab the killers of an elderly Sikh man near Calgary early this year, Canadian police have now widened their search for clues.
The badly beaten and decapitated body of 70-year-old Pargat Singh Kahlon was found in February. At the time of his murder, Kahlon was living at the Sikh Society of Calgary gurdwara in the southeast part of the city.
He was last seen Feb 12 while leaving a bank branch after withdrawing cash. He was reportedly accompanied by three visitors from India.
Reports say he withdrew $2,500 to send to his family in India. But the money never reached his family and five days later, his decapitated body was found in a canal north of Chestermere town near Calgary.
Though there is no word about the three Indians who were last seen with the victim, police have renewed their search for clues.
They have put up “wanted” posters at places frequented by Sikhs – business places and gurdwaras in northeast and southwest parts of Calgary. These are the places the elderly Sikh used to frequent before his murder.
Police have also announced an award of $2,000 to anyone giving information about the crime.
