Kolkata : A 27-year-old football fan, injured after falling from the Salt Lake stadium gallery, died at a private hospital here Monday.
Sanjib Das, a Mohun Bagan supporter, sustained a head injury Sunday after he slipped down 12 feet from the gallery just before the start of the Federation Cup final match between his club and the Dempo Sports Club.
The accident occurred when he was doing a jig along with other Bagan supporters in the gallery, eyewitnesses said.
Das, who had come to watch the match along with his father and other relatives, was admitted to a private hospital Sunday evening in a critical condition.
“It was a serious case of internal haemorrhage. He could not be revived despite all efforts,” hospital sources said.
