Mumbai: The Bombay Catholic Sabha, in association with other NGOs, citizens’ groups, will organise an all religion memorial service on Christmas Day at Azad Maidan, opposite CST station which witnessed bloodbath on November 26.
The memorial service is to commemorate in honour of all those who lost their lives in the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai including the brave Policemen, Army Commandos and Citizens. This day also completes 30 days after the painful terror attack on the city of Mumbai.
“December 25 also completes the one year anniversary of the brutal violence unleashed against the Christian Community which included the killing, burning and destruction of the homes and the Churches in the Kandhamal District of Orissa. The situation still remains tense,” said Dolphy D’souza, president of the Bombay Catholic Sabha.
“This service will also recall all the citizens who have lost their lives and their homes destroyed either by terrorists or fascist forces in different parts of the Country during the year 2007-2008,” he added.
“We urge the citizens to participate as a mark of respect and solidarity for the departed citizens and “SAY NO TO TERROR AND WAR! SAY NO TO VIOLENCE”, the call given by Citizens Initiative for Peace [CIP], a network of over 150 NGOs which organised the recent Human Chain on December 12 in Mumbai,” he said.
In line with the appeal made by Cardinal Oswald Gracias, the Archbishop of Bombay and the Patron of the Sabha, Dolphy D’souza has appealed to the Christian community to have a subdued and low key Christmas festivities with prayers for peace and violence free environment in the city and the country.
