Wuhan : The first tunnel beneath the Yangtze river was opened for traffic here in China’s Hubei province, the provincial government said Monday.
Two more such tunnels will be built beneath the Yangtze, China’s longest river, the government said.
The second tunnel, work on which was expected to start soon, would be part of the No. 2 subway line and would be built 1,000 meters upstream of the first tunnel.
The location of the third tunnel was still undecided.
