Three Maoist ‘commanders’ arrested in Jharkhand

Ranchi : Three Maoist “commanders” were arrested in Jharkhand Monday, the police said.

According to the police, Ajay Yadav alias Nanduji, a sub-zonal commander of Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) was arrested from Charaki village in Chatra district Monday, some 200 km from here.

Yadav was wanted in more than one dozen cases, police said.

Two more Maoist rebels were arrested from Badigaha village of the same district.

One of them is Jamuna alias Jethan Paswan, a zonal commander of the Kisan Krantikari Committee, a frontal organization of the CPI-Maoist.

Police have seized two revolvers, live cartridges and Maoist literature from the arrested rebels.

Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state. More than 1,350 people, including civilians and Maoist rebels, have been killed in the last seven years.
