Ramallah : The Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement lauded an attack carried out in southern Israel earlier Monday as a natural response to Israeli occupation practices.
Ahmad al-Awri, a Jihad leader, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that his group would never give up resistance as long as the occupation still existed.
He added that Monday’s attack had to draw the attention of the US, Quartet and the entire world to the suffering of the Palestinian people due to Israeli brutalities.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) also praised the Dimona attack.
In a release, a copy of which was obtained by KUNA), Hamas Spokesman Sami Abu Zahra said, “The heroic Dimona operation this morning is a natural reaction to the crimes of the occupation and continued blockade.” Monday’s bombing came to emphasize that the Palestinian people would hold fast to resistance by all means.
A Palestinian bomber killed a woman in the southern Israeli town of Dimona earlier in the day, the first such attack in over a year. Israeli investigators were checking whether the attacker came via Egypt after Palestinian militants breached the Gaza-Egypt border last month. Police said a second attacker was shot dead before he was able to detonate his explosives belt. Fatah’s Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack on a shopping mall in Dimona, southern Israel, and said two bombers executed the operation, their starting point being Ramallah.
