New Delhi : Petroleum Minister Murli Deora is unlikely to go to Pakistan ahead of his planned visit to Iran beginning Feb 12 to discuss the $7 billion-India-Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline, sources in the petroleum ministry said Tuesday.
Deora was slated to visit Islamabad this week to discuss with his Pakistani counterpart unresolved issues like gas transportation charges and transit fee relating to the proposed trilateral gas pipeline.
However, there is yet no official word on whether Deora will go ahead with the proposed Iran visit or whether it will be cancelled.
Danish Jafri, Iran’s minister for economic affairs and finance, visited India last month to boost bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the oil and gas sector.
Jafri had said that Iran was waiting for India and Pakistan to resolve their bilateral commercial issues relating to the trilateral gas pipeline.
